The Driver License Examination Process

All Californians who want to drive a motor vehicle must pass two exams which are the permit and driving tests.

Reviewing your notes from the Driver Education Online course and taking the free practice tests should insure that you do well on the DMV permit test. The permit test is 46 multiple choice questions. Students should read the California Driver Handbook which covers every topic from obtaining a license to securing insurance for your automobile.

After obtaining the permit all students under 18 years of age are required to take a six hour behind-the-wheel driving course. The permit is NOT VALID until the student completes the first behind-the-wheel lesson. In addition to the six hours of training students must complete 50 hours with their parent or adult 25 years of age or older, 10 of which must be at night.

Both DMV approved Economic Driving Schools Online Driver Education and Training courses will will satisfy the requirements to obtain the permit and take the test at your local Department of Motor Vehicle office.
